In the season of Sesame Street that followed the 9/11 attacks, show makers built upon their decades of experience writing for a preschool-aged audience to help children and families manage fear, cope with grief, and understand the importance of tolerance. In conversation with 9/11 Memorial & Museum President and CEO Beth Hillman, Sesame Workshop’s Senior Vice President of Global Education Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, television producer Carol-Lynn Parente, and actor and retired FDNY Captain Bill Walsh reflect on Sesame Street’s response to 9/11 and Sesame Workshop’s long history of helping young children and their families navigate tough topics.
