Women’s Works: Female Artists at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Art historian and professional tour guide Emma Guest-Consales, Ph.D. joins the National Arts Club to discuss the careers and art of some of the most important female artists and patrons represented at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, women who were often limited by their gender in the subjects or mediums of their endeavors. They include Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, Mary Cassatt, Louisine Havemeyer, Florine Stettheimer, and Louise Nevelson.

Dr. Guest-Consales also shares how female collectors helped to shape The Met itself. The presentation focuses on artists whose works are currently on display so program attendees can view them when visiting the museum.
