WORD Presents | Cecilia Ruiz for The Book of Extraordinary Deaths: True Accounts of Ill-Fated Lives

A welcome dose of dark humor for these dark times, illustrator and graphic designer Cecilia Ruiz introduces readers to the bizarre demises of thinkers, writers, monarchs, artists, and notable nobodies throughout history with stunning illustrations and witty, macabre captions in The Book of Extraordinary Deaths: True Accounts of Ill-Fated Lives. Beginning in the fifth century B.C. with the unusual death of Aeschylus and journeying chronologically to identical twins who died—on the same day—in 2011, readers will learn of people they may or may not have ever heard of, but will forever remember for their unusual final moments.

Cecilia will be joined in conversation by Ella Morton, co-author of Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders.

Please note that there is a $5 entrance voucher for this event which can be purchased online or at the door. The voucher is good toward anything in store at WORD, including The Book of Extraordinary Deaths.
