Written Women: Cassandra
When: Mon, Jul 13 at 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Where: Cordelia
Price: Free
A monthly writers salon at Cordelia, Written Women invites participants to read, discuss, and respond to poems, stories, and myths written by and about women — drawing from themes of power, madness, sensuality, tragedy, queerness, and insubordination.
Each session centers on a different text, followed by a free-write and optional sharing of excerpts. This month's focus is Cassandra — priestess of Apollo, cursed to see the future but never be believed. Participants read from ancient Greek tragedies and epic poems alongside contemporary poetry and nonfiction, then contribute their own interpretations to the ongoing reimagining of her story.
Led by poet, movement artist, and facilitator Katya Borkov. Supported in part by Poets & Writers and the New York State Council on the Arts.
