FRAMED! with Eveline & Frida: Il Vero Volto Di Medusa – Medusa’s Real Face
FRAMED! with Eveline & Frida:
Il Vero Volto Di Medusa – Medusa’s Real Face
Friday, March 11th, 6-7pm EST
In Italian – Online & In-Person
Dive into the world of art history with these lessons “in a nutshell” that give us a taste of the past, while reminding us of the present!
Join Eveline & Frida on their journey to unfold the complex meaning behind masterpieces of the Renaissance and Baroque in an easy and fun way, where barriers often imposed by scholarly knowledge are broken to make old masters’ works relevant and accessible to a modern audience. The result is an engaging and entertaining dialogue: Eveline introduces and analyzes fascinating works of art from the past, Frida connects them to the present relying on his artistic sensitivity (and also sense of humor). Controversial and strong themes are treated in a respectful yet soft spirited way.
The journey begins with a famous, yet misunderstood mythical character: Medusa. Of all the existing interpretations of this mythic character, Bernini’s sculpture seems to fully encapsulate the tragic, yet powerful contrast between the loss of a woman’s beauty and her subsequent pain, and the terrifying nature that pushes her to turn her observers to stone. The conversation will revolve around the analysis of the myth, the correlation to Bernini’s life and the connection to ours. Come join the conversation!
