How I Survived The Lower East Side In The 70’s With My A.M. Radio

Writer/performer Jose Joaquin Garcia performs his “How I Survived The Lower East Side In The 70’s With My A.M. Radio,” his personal story of growing up on Avenue C.  Armed with only a transistor radio and a singing voice, the young Nuyorican hero came of age. His one-man show, joined by musicians on piano, percussion, and bass, is filled with sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant, stories and is uniquely woven with the songs of the early 70’s.  A tribute to the power of music and resiliency.

Garcia is a longtime member of the Puerto Rican Travelling Theater.
