Inside Industry Tour | Digital Fabrication: Scott Jordan Furniture & Roboto.Nyc

Contemporary manufacturing businesses employ a variety of traditional and cutting-edge techniques to produce many of the products, works of art, and objects we find in both our homes and offices. This tour takes you inside two companies that call the Yard home – Scott Jordan Furniture and Roboto.NYC – who are using digital fabrication to push the possibilities of their craft. Visitors will get the opportunity to learn about how digital fabrication has allowed these two businesses to evolve while also getting an introduction to the Yard as a working industrial site dedicated to providing a place for urban manufacturing to grow and thrive.
Scott Jordan Furniture was founded by Scott Jordan as a small cabinet shop in 1980 using basic fabrication tools including saws, planers, and hand tools. Today, the company still employs these techniques but also incorporates computer-based drafting, computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to create one-of-a-kind, highly customizable furniture that can be created as singular objects or in a series.
