New York Scandia Symphony

New York Scandia Symphony, under the baton of Dorrit Matson, returns to Alice Tully Hall with “Under Northern Lights,” a program of music by significant Northern European classical composers.  The 52-member orchestra will play Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 5; Jean Sibelius’ Finlanda; and Emil Hartmann’s Violin Concerto, featuring Stephanie Chase as guest violinist.  Founded by Ms. Matson, the Symphony continues its mission of presenting both well known and rarely heard music by composers from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
