Political Tale: Storytelling with Politics

Hosted by Harmon Leon
Featuring Negin Farsad, Scott Blakeman, Joey Novik, and Leighann Lord

Political Tale, hosted by Harmon Leon (VICE, Meet the Deplorables, This American Life), is an event that reflects how politics really screws with each and every one of us; as told through personalized stories. Political Tale is not a traditional yuck-yuck political stand-up show filled with Trump jokes – but the first storytelling show in New York to focus on unimaginable encounters with the political world. Tonight’s show features Negin Farsad, Scott Blakeman, Joey Novik and Leighann Lord.

Negin Farsad was named one of 50 Funniest Women by Huffington Post, named one of the 10 Best Feminist Comedians by Paper Magazine, and was selected as a TEDFellow for her work in social justice comedy. She has written for/appeared on Comedy Central, MTV, PBS, IFC, Nickelodeon and others. She is director/producer of the feature films The Muslims Are Coming! starring Jon Stewart, David Cross, Lewis Black and Nerdcore.

Scott Blakeman is an original member of Laughing Liberally, New York’s longest running political comedy show. Scott was featured on MSNBC’s live coverage of the 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner. He appears frequently on CNN and MSNBC, and for more than three years, Scott was the most frequently booked liberal pundit on FoxNews.com Live.

Joey Novick is a left-wing Democrat and stand-up comedian. He was elected to an all-Republican town council in New Jersey.

Leighann Lord is a veteran stand-up comedian seen on HBO, Comedy Central, and The View. She is the author of Dict Jokes and Real Women Do it Standing Up, and is a co-host of StarTalk Radio, with Neil de Grasse Tyson.

Harmon Leon is a contributor to VICE and This American Life. He’s the new book, Meet the Deplorables: Infiltrating Trump America. He’s appeared on MSNBC, The Howard Stern Show, Last Call with Carson Daly and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal’s Just for Laughs, and the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
