Two’s Company: Broadway’s Great Duets (NYC)

On Wednesday evening, November 15, Kaufman Music Center’s prestigious concert series Broadway Playhouse joins forces with One Day University to produce:
Two’s Company: Broadway’s Great Duets
A duet is a musical composition for two performers in which the performers have equal importance to the piece. It differs from a harmony, as the performers take turns performing a solo section rather than singing simultaneously.
The finest duests from the finest Broadway shows not only sound great – they also move the story along in interesting ways, through music rather than dialogue.
This lecture/concert will examine duets from many iconic shows to understand what made them great. Top Broadway performers will interpret the classic songs and Drama Desk-nominated composer/lyricist and Director of Theater at Kaufman, Sean Hartley, will provide commentary, insights, anecdotes and conjecture to explore this fascinating aspect of American musical theater.
