Tom Creed and Donnacha Dennehy, the director and composer of our fall 2016 season presentation of The Hunger with BAM, are joined by several other panelists including Maureen O. Murphy (PhD, professor, Co-Director of undergraduate Irish Studies at Hofstra University) and Christine Kinealy (PhD, Director, Ireland’s Great Hunger Institute, Quinnipiac University) to discuss the Great Famine of 1845–52 in Ireland, its present-day effects and implications, and what it means to create an artistic work that brings to light new dimensions of historical narrative.
