John Adams’s powerful opus, considered by many to be his greatest operatic composition, arrives at the Met Opera almost 30 years after the shocking events it chronicles — the 1985 hijacking of the Achille Lauro cruise ship. In advance of the company premiere of the new production, director Tom Morris and conductor David Robertson join Adams for a discussion, moderated by Ara Guzelimian, Provost and Dean of The Juilliard School.
