Discover “Loving,” the new film about the two people who forged a path to marriage equality. Join award-winning writer/director Jeff Nichols (“Take Shelter,” “Mud,” “Midnight Special”) and film-television-theater actress Ruth Negga, who stars in the film with Joel Edgerton. “Loving,” which received critical and audience acclaim this year at the Cannes and Toronto film festivals, celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of interracial couple Richard and Mildred Loving, who fell in love and were married in 1958. Their home — the state of Virginia, where they were starting a family — jailed and then banished them. The pull of their roots spurred Mildred to try to find a way back. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the inalienable right to marry. Their quietly powerful love story has become an inspiration to all ever since. Interviewed by New York Times contributor Logan Hill.
