Experts discuss Women InJustice: Gender and the Pathway to Jail in New York City, a new report from John Jay College of Criminal Justice Prisoner Reentry Institute, commissioned by The New York Women’s Foundation. The report focuses on the role gender plays in the New York City justice system including the trajectory of women through the prison system and the need for gender-informed solutions.

Panelists include Hon. Judy Kluger, Executive Director at Sanctuary for Families; Hon. Jonathan Lippman, Chair at the Independent Commission on NYC Criminal Justice and Incarceration Reform, the Former Chief Judge of the State of NY and Chief Judge of the NY Court of Appeals; Vivian Nixon, Executive Director at the College and Community Fellowship; and Diana Ortiz, Project Director at the Women’s Community Justice Project.

Alison Wilkey, Director of Public Policy at the Prisoner Reentry Institute, will present the report findings and Michèle Penzer, New York Managing Partner at Latham & Watkins will moderate the event.
