The New Yorker Festival: Edward St. Aubyn Talks with Ian Parker

Edward St. Aubyn is an award-winning novelist. He has written eight novels, including “Mother’s Milk,” which was shortlisted for the 2006 Man Booker Prize and won the 2007 Prix Femina Étranger, and “Lost for Words,” which won the 2014 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize. Five of his novels were adapted into the upcoming TV series “Melrose,” commissioned by Showtime and Sky Atlantic, which will star Benedict Cumberbatch. “Inheritance,” Ian Parker’s Profile of Edward St. Aubyn, ran in the June 2, 2014, issue of the magazine. His upcoming book, “Dunbar,” will be published on October 3, 2017.

Ian Parker contributed his first piece to The New Yorker in 1992 and became a staff writer in 2000. He has written about a number of cultural figures, including the chief design officer of Apple, Sir Jonathan Ive; the journalist Christopher Hitchens; and the singer Elton John.
