Deutsches Haus at NYU presents an evening of talks to accompany the ongoing exhibition of visual artist Regina Baumhauer’s “Open Letters: The White Rose & Liberty Under Attack” at Deutsches Haus. The first talk, “Humanness and Freedom,” will be held by Dr. Jörg Frey. This will be followed by a talk with the title “The White Rose” by Carol Kahn Strauss. Lastly Regina Baumhauer will provide an overview of the paintings included in her current exhibition and an introduction to her newest work “Open Letter series: Feuerle im Zauberwald” [Feuerle in the Magic Forest], 2017/18.
Regina Baumhauer’s new bilingual publication, “Die Weisse Rose, In Memoriam Presente, 1942/43 – 2017/18” which features artwork by her and contributions by well-known authors, including Clare Rothschild, Carol Kahn Strauss, Monika Boosen, Roland Brecht, and Jörg Frey, will also be presented at the event.

Jörg Frey is Professor of New Testament and Ancient Judaism at the Theological Faculty of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. From 1999-2010, he was Professor of New Testament and Ancient Judaism at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Munich.
Carol Kahn Strauss is the former Executive Director of the Leo Baeck Institute New York | Berlin.
