New York City’s for hire vehicle drivers have spoken and they need living wages. Today, the Taxi and Limousine Commission released an initial proposal for a new earnings standard for NYC’s app-based drivers. The new standard would increase driver earnings by fourteen percent. It would also be accompanied by company adjustments that would increase the amount of time drivers are moving passengers and incentivize pooled rides, potentially limiting the number of vehicles on the road.
Join TransitCenter to learn more about the proposal and discuss its implications for drivers and transit in New York City.
