General Society Library Book Sale and Special Program
The special program will feature author Polly Guerin, who will discuss her new book, The Dynamics of Color, which describes the various psychological aspects of the color preferences and its effects on personality, lifestyle, and cultural interests. The writer shows how color is a universal language that governs the vast landscape of our existence in every aspect of our life. She also illustrates how color is integral to music, art, and poetry, to fashion and environment, and even to the food we eat. Ms. Guerin’s talk will be followed by a book-signing and reception.
Polly Guerin writes on diversified subjects. In addition to The Dynamics of Color, she is the author of The General Society of Mechanics and Tradesmen: A History, and The Cooper-Hewitt Dynasty of New York. She honed her skills as a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and writing is her daily routine. Pollytalkfromnewyork is her popular running blog. More information on Ms. Guerin can be found on www.pollytalk.com
Please note that during Ms. Guerin’s presentation, the Book Sale (5pm-8pm on Thursday night) will be temporarily suspended and will resume after her talk. The Book Sale consists of donated and deaccessioned books at reduced price to benefit the Library, however, this will not include “The Dynamics of Color,” which will be sold at the normal retail price of $20.
