Creating Connection and Conversation Throughout the Dementia Experience

Are we truly listening to our partners and clients living with dementia, or have we taken on the role of “doer”? Join The East Side Institute and Inspired Memory Care to explore and experience new ways of creating growthful and evolving partnerships with loved ones and clients living with dementia. We’ll discuss cognitive change, strengths and performance-based communication, as well as approaches to creating independence and intimacy throughout the dementia experience.
Life continues, despite the diagnosis, so learn how to support yourself and others to share in loving and ever-changing conversations and experiences. This four-hour workshop will include an interactive presentation by Inspired Memory Care co-founders, Nettie Harper and Kelly Gilligan, and an introduction to play, performance and development from social therapeutics experts Mary Fridley and Dr. Susan Massad. The day will close with a facilitated discussion group.
