How to Read a Protest: L.A. Kauffman with Avram Finkelstein

This illustrated history documents America’s major demonstrations, beginning with the 1963 March on Washington, by showing the ways protests work and how their character has shifted over time. Using the very signs that demonstrators carried as indicators of the organization behind various actions, How to Read a Protest explores the relationship between the way movements are built and the ultimate impact they have on fomenting change.

Author and grassroots organizer L.A. Kauffman will be joined in conversation by Avram Finkelstein, an artist and founding member of the Silence=Death and Gran Fury collectives.
