Alice Shalvi: legendary Israeli feminist leader, activist, Shakespeare scholar, educator, escapee from Nazi Germany, and social justice pioneer. Ridiculed as a child in post war London as “little refugee,” Alice made aliyah shortly after Israel’s Independence and has been enmeshed in social justice movements in Israel ever since, recognized as a heroine, and winning honors galore including the prestigious Israel Prize. This lioness of twentieth century Israel poignantly portrays herself in her new memoir, Never a Native. Alice will be interviewed by civil rights lawyer, writer and activist Kathleen Peratis.
