Toxic masculinity has been a hot topic of discussion for years. While we know from research that toxic masculinity is harmful for boys and men, what does that mean for those who identify as girls and women? What does it mean for those breaking the gender binary? Are there positive aspects of masculinity? Should we move toward “undoing” gender entirely?
Masculinity, after all, is not something that lives in male bodies. It is a set of ideas, values, and beliefs that drives behaviors and can be performed by anyone. That means that it impacts all individuals in particular ways – often barring them from expressing their fully authentic selves.
This Olio will tackle the core issue in masculinity: POWER. Come listen to how the science of sex and gender can shed light on masculinity and let’s discuss what liberation means in these contexts.
