The Science of Sex Differences—A (Bar) Talk by Dr. Diana Santos Fleischman SOLD OUT

From radical feminism to the manosphere, from Delusions of Gender to the Google Memo, there is a culture war about sex differences. Are men’s and women’s minds virtually identical or are they as far apart as Mars and Venus? Do sex differences exist above and beyond cultural dictates on what is masculine and feminine?  What can we learn from gender-egalitarian cultures and evolution? What implications do sex differences have on everything from the orgasm gap to the wage gap? In this talk I’ll address the controversial idea that sex differences have a pervasive influence on society and equality using evidence from psychology, biology, sociology and economics.

Diana Santos Fleischman PhD is an associate professor in evolutionary psychology. Raised in a conservative town in Georgia, Diana was nicknamed “monkey girl” at 11 for advocating evolution in school. Diana has studied topics like menopause effects on health and well-being, how sexual arousal changes disgust sensitivity and how the menstrual cycle might influence women’s psychology. Currently, Diana is on sabbatical writing a popular book about how we intuitively train each other, especially in romantic relationships.
