We are all in the state of becoming. From the smallest particles of our world to the great expanses of our cosmos, growth and development occur over time and through space. Over the last two years, artist Kelly Beekman has been considering these forces of change. She has created a series of artworks that reveal the color and forms of these stages of development. Images drawn in pastel of what look much like a single cell can also be imagined at the largest scale of planetary evolution. The viewer is invited to view each piece and bring it into movement. What were the stages before or the shifting or stirring that occurs after the captured moment in time? The exhibition includes works in embroidery, a textural medium that suggests that the hand of the artist is much like the hand of the Creator, deeply engaged and invested in the process of becoming.
On view through November 24.
