Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson star as two lighthouse keepers—a grizzled old-timer and his new apprentice—in Robert Eggers’s plunge into a vividly imagined (and well-mustachioed) 19th-century world. Filmmaker Robert Eggers presents another rich and mysterious visitation from America’s primal past, following The Witch, his sensational debut which won the Best Directing Award at Sundance in 2015. Shot on black-and-white 35mm and so lovingly realized that you can taste the Atlantic brine, his latest is part ribald Pinter-esque two-hander and part phantasmagorical vision. We are pleased to welcome Eggers for a conversation about the art and craft of The Lighthouse and creating new legends from the age of Melville. The Lighthouse is an A24 Films release.
Online RSVPs will open at 10am the day prior to the event. Skip the box office by showing your print-at-home ticket (printed or on your mobile device) to the theater usher. You must show up at least 30 minutes in advance or your seat may be forfeited.
