The Guggenheim Museum Through the Eyes of Cartoonists, Illustrators, and Artists

The Guggenheim Museum Through the Eyes of Cartoonists, Illustrators, and Artists

When the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum opened in 1959, critics panned the design, likening it to a beehive, a washing machine, and an inverted oatmeal bowl, among other things. Today, however, the museum has become one of New York City’s most beloved buildings. Join Guggenheim educator Sharon Vatsky for an interactive tour and conversation that considers six decades of changing attitudes toward this architectural icon by examining its depictions in cartoons, illustrations, and artworks.

This program will be led virtually through Zoom, a free video conferencing software. Participants should have access to a computer, smart phone, or tablet with a microphone and internet access.

$10, $5 members. A Zoom link and password will be emailed ahead of the program.
