Unlike our honeybees, many of the bees in Green-Wood are wild–ranging in size, color, and behavior–and can easily go unnoticed to the untrained observer. Join Sarah Kornbluth from the American Museum of Natural History and Green-Wood’s Manager of Horticulture Operations, Sara Evans, to learn the differences between the domestic honey bee and our wild bees, and the steps Green-Wood has taken to support our wild bees. We’ll see examples of the visual cues to identify different bee species, talk about their different behavior and nesting requirements, and learn how we can help conserve habitat to protect wild bee diversity!
$5/Free for members. This conversation is part of our new series of virtual programs about the horticulture and wildlife of Green-Wood, Zooming in on Nature.
A Zoom link will be emailed to you the day of the program, please arrive early to test your connection.
