Panelists will discuss the history of women’s reproductive health care from an intersectional perspective.

Acclaimed historian and professor Deirdre Cooper Owens (author of Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology), Linda Goler Blount, President & CEO of Black Women’s Health Imperative, and Bea Dixon, Founder of The Honey Pot, will join Elix founder and CEO Lulu Ge on Tuesday, July 14 from 5:00pm – 5:45pm EST.

This intersectional conversation will explore nuanced questions, like:

  • Would modern gynecology have developed as it did without the largely uncredited contributions of Black women?
  • Who constructed the gynecological system in the United States, and what were their goals?
  • What institutional systems persist that result in Black women being underserved when it comes to child birth, pelvic pain, fibroids, and endometriosis?
  • What are the actionable steps real women can take to demand change?

The goal is to open a rich dialogue about reproductive health and empower listeners to develop a deeper understanding of systemic racism within the women’s health care system. Please find further information below:
