Healing with Cacao Ceremony

Rita Navarrete Perez & Toñita Gonzales

Note: This workshop will now be offered online. Sessions of all our online programs will be recorded and shared with registrants after each is completed for a limited time only.

Traditional curandernos (healers) throughout the world use ritual, sweating, medicinal plants, and the elements of wind, fire, water, and the earth to bring healing to their communities. In this 3-hour workshop, we will focus on cacao (raw chocolate), a primary element in indigenous medicine, to bring healing to our group.

We will discuss indigenous and allopathic views of cacao, as well as effective remedies and recipes. In ceremony, we will drink chocolate tea, wash our hands in chocolate, and release what no longer serves us.

Through songs, sacred sounds, and soothing aromas, we will create profound peace for the mind, body, and soul.

Note: In order to participate in this ceremony, please prepare a small altar in front of you with candles, fruits, vegetables, personal items or photos, seeds, stones, cacao bits or cacao chocolate such as a chocolate bar with a high content of cacao, and a glass of water to drink. Please reflect on your own needs physically mentally, spiritually and culturally. You do not need to explain your altar.
