36.5 / Experiments in Slow-Looking
Join artist Sarah Cameron Sunde as she explores proposals towards a large-scale installation of all nine works in her series, 36.5 / A Durational Performance with the Sea. During her time at MITU580, Sarah will install various durational video artworks along with context videos, text, and ephemera, while experimenting with slow-looking.
The public is invited to participate in these experiments taking place between four tidal cycles in relation to the local tides in Gowanus Bay: high-tide on Thursday, March 30 through high-tide on Saturday, April 1.
This work encourages slow-looking and engaging the durational. The exhibit will have open gallery hours from 5pm to 9pm on March 30 and 31 and from 12pm to 6:30pm on April 1st.
On Saturday April 1st, we will be holding a durational viewing event for half a tidal cycle (6 hours, 23 min), which will end with an artist talk and a walk to the water.
