Opening Reception: Luma by Catalina Tuca

Join us in celebrating the opening reception of Luma, a solo exhibition by Catalina Tuca with mentorship from Esperanza Mayobre. The exhibition presents new works by the artist informed by the luma—the word used for a police baton in Chile, as well as for a species of evergreen tree that is the source of the dense wood originally used to make them. Tuca explores the paradoxes between these two meanings, positioning the luma as a mediator of geographic identity, cultural heritage, ecological understanding, and systems of power.

RSVPs for the opening reception are encouraged but not required. To RSVP, click here.

The exhibition will remain on view during regular gallery hours (Wed–Sat 12–6 pm). To learn more about the exhibition, click here.
