“19th Century Indo-American History through Philately” with Ravi Vora

Join the British Empire Study Group on Thursday, August 22 at 6 pm (ET) 11 pm GMT

Approximately 2.7M Americans, the second largest immigrant group in the US, regard India or Bharat as their motherland.  Americans of Indian descent have played a significant and often overlooked role in American history.  This program focuses on the role of both the Americans and Indians in the Indo-American history with the use of philatelic artefacts and postal history to show the contributions that both the  Americans and Indians have made to our relations involving the Mercantile trade, Maritime Trade & Navigation,  US consular services, American Missionaries, as well as  Sanskrit  & Theology.  Seasoned philatelist Ravi Vora will demonstrate how philately, modernly thought of as an “old man’s hobby”,  can be used to add fabric to historical stories, allowing a person to reach back and hold a piece of history of the relationship between the two countries.
