Speaker: David Bohigian, Acting President & CEO, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC)
March 12, 7:45-10:30 am. The University Club of New York – 1 W. 54th St, NYC. Breakfast included.
Impact Capital Forum invites you to join David Bohigian, Acting President & CEO, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), for a discussion on the future of U.S. development finance and the creation of a new Federal agency, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC).
In October 2018, the President signed the Better Utilization of Investments Leading to Development (BUILD) Act, launching the U.S. into a new era of development finance that will accelerate the global impact investing movement. This landmark legislation is designed to modernize and strengthen US development finance capabilities by forming a new federal agency, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (USDFC), dedicated to catalyzing over $100 billion in new private sector impact investments in emerging and frontier markets.
Using blended finance, the Federal government is focused on catalyzing impact investors to invest in projects aimed at solving the world’s most pressing problems while producing positive financial returns. Impact investors will be important partners for the new USDFC because of their shared commitment to creating positive developmental impact and deep expertise in deploying capital in the world’s most challenging markets. USDFC will play a central role in accelerating the global impact investing movement, unlocking more capital for impact by catalyzing new investors to align their portfolios with global development goals.
