A Night of Fashion, Music, and the Art of Barkley L. Hendricks

Discover the fashion and music that inspired the artist Barkley L. Hendricks at this after-hours event at Frick Madison. Attendees will enjoy a reception and private viewing of the exhibition Barkley L. Hendricks: Portraits at the Frick. The evening will open with a lecture on 1960s and 70s fashion by Hendricks scholar Richard J. Powell, Duke University’s John Spencer Bassett Distinguished Professor of Art and Art History. Following a Q&A with Professor Powell, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and special access to the galleries with musical accompaniment by vocalist Queen Esther, who has curated selections from Hendricks’s favorite albums to pair with the portraits on view.
