Dignity is the central value of Ethical Culture. It also lies at the center of human rights. Ethical Culture exists to promote dignity; human rights to protect it.
All around us we see violations of human dignity, in the slaughter of human beings, the degradation that accompanies economic deprivation, and in countless other ways. But exactly what is dignity? Where does it come from? What does its recognition require of us? A philosophical look at the value that lies at the heart of Ethical Culture.
