Please join Daniela Petrova (Her Mother’s Daughter) and Andrea Bartz (The Lost Night) for a conversation about dynamic female heroines in today’s mystery and thriller landscape, followed by refreshments and book signing.

Daniela Petrova is the author of the novel Her Mother’s Daughter (Putnam, June 2019). She grew up behind the Iron Curtain in Sofia, Bulgaria. Soon after the fall of Communism, she moved to New York where she worked as a cleaning lady and a nanny while studying English at the YMCA. She is a recipient of an Artist Fellowship in Writing from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Her short stories, poems and essays have been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, LA Review of Books, Salon, and Marie Claire among others. Petrova currently lives in New York City.

Andrea Bartz is a journalist and the author of The Lost Night (Crown, 2019). Previously, she was a senior editor at Glamour, Fit Pregnancy, Psychology Today, and other magazines. She grew up in the suburbs of Milwaukee and graduated from Northwestern University’s school of journalism, and in 2010, she coauthored the blog and book Stuff Hipsters Hate. She lives in Brooklyn. Her second novel, The Herd, will be published in 2020.
