Artist Event: Jules de Balincourt, Julie Heffernan, Kyle Staver moderated by Xico Greenwald

Moderated by Brooklyn-based artist, writer and teacher Xico Greenwald, this lecture with Brooklyn-based artists Jules de Balincourt and Julie Heffernan will focus on the process of developing meaningful imagery in artwork and paintings.

Jules de Balincourt has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA PS1, the Brooklyn Museum, among many others. His work is currently the subject of a retrospective at the Montreal Museum of Fine arts.

Julie Heffernan, professor of fine arts at Montclair State University in New Jersey, is the is an award-winning artist who has received a MacDowell Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts Grant and a Fulbright-Hayes Grant. She is currently represented by galleries in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Xico Greenwald, who will moderate this lecture, is an assistant professor of art at Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York and a visiting instructor at Pratt Institute. He writes a regular column for the New York Sun and has contributed to publications, including The Epoch Times and Painters’ Table.

All evening lectures at the New York Studio School are free and open to the public.
