You Are Here: Artist Talk and Stargazing with Ken Nintzel

Part of 2013 Next Wave Festival, this artist talk and night of stargazing is moderated by BAM’s curator of visual arts Holly Shen Chaves.

This unique virtual stellarium offers audiences an opportunity to experience both the sculptural and celestial versions of the night sky’s mythical characters. Nintzel discusses the evolution and fabrication of the piece with moderator Holly Shen Chaves, Curator of Visual Arts at BAM.

Next Wave Art presents a conversation with artist Ken Nintzel in conjunction with his sculptural series of life-size constellations, You Are Here, installed in the Lepercq Space this fall.

Following the discussion, guests are invited to a guided stargazing tour on the rooftop of the BAM Fisher with telescopes provided by astronomer Summer Ash and Columbia Astronomy Public Programs. Space is limited.
