Arts and Activism: The Independent Roundtable

Arts and Activism: The Independent Roundtable is the first in a series of original programs from AKILA WORKSONGS designed to celebrate the independent spirit of some of today’s most gifted artists and progressive activists. As an inter-generational group discussion, The Independent Roundtable will take a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be respected artists and activists in a world where conformity rules. Esteemed panelists will discuss the joys and challenges of nurturing and balancing their creative spirits with their mission for social justice.

The panelists include Adesola Osakalumi (actor, singer, dancer, choreographer), Byron Hurt (award-winning filmmaker and activist), Nana Camille Yarbrough (performance artist, author, cultural activist), and JLove Calderon (author, educator, activist). The discussion will be moderated by April Silver.
