Brooklyn Talks: Let the world be a Black Poem

Borrowing its title from the final lines of “Black Art,” by the late poet and political activist Amiri Baraka (1934–2014), this program honors the critical place of poetry within the Black Arts Movement and the dynamic relationships between visual artists and writers during the historical period of Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power. In this special tribute, experience readings by legendary poet and playwright Ntozake Shange, Aja Monet, Simone White, and founding members of The Last Poets (Umar Bin Hassan, Baba Donn Babatunde, and Abiodun Oyewole). Hosted by poet, educator, and activist Mahogany L. Browne.
