This May, China Institute has partnered with the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation to bring some of China’s best-selling and most beloved writers to New York. Please join us on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, for a conversation between Yu Hua, one of China’s best-known novelists, and Xudong Zhang, Director of NYU China House. Together they will delve into the mimetic impulse in Yu Hua’s fiction, exploring the realist dimension of this writer who has been studied primarily under the rubric of modernism, experimentation, and the avant-garde.
