Changing Our Story

Stories inform & shape our lives on all levels and at every turn of our life path. They tell us which directions to take and what goals are worthy to pursue along the way. They tell us what makes for a “life well lived”. Stories tell us who is worthy of our love and generous support as well as informing us of those who are deserving of our hate and righteous retribution. Stories tell us why it’s perfectly acceptable that the select few prosper and grow while the multitudes suffer and decline.
What if the stories guiding our current way of life are actually false?  Or even worse what if they purposely leading us terribly astray?
In this presentation, I will explore 3 core stories of our society. These are the central stories that we embrace in our daily living which will ultimately prove to be incompatible with future generations ability to live. What will change our story?
Rev. Dr. Terry Gallagher is an ordained minister in the UCC. Educated originally as an engineer, Terry, following a 30 year career as an chemical industrial manufacturing executive answered the Call to Ministry. He attained a Master of Divinity degree from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Chicago Theological Seminary. He served as a local church pastor in Michigan for 7 years.
In response to the escalating double edged global crisis of unsustainable economics and ecological destruction, he has focused his ministry efforts in serving the greater society as a Public Theologian. His current ministry is faith based ecological-justice education, advocacy & action. You can find his efforts working towards a just sustainable world on the web, in the church, in community meetings, in legislative offices and on the public square.
