Cinema Chats: “Passage to Sweden”

Join us on Zoom with filmmaker, Suzannah Warlick, and narrator, Chana Sharfstein, for a behind-the-scenes look inside this incredible story!

Passage to Sweden is a documentary that examines the unique experience of Jews in Scandinavia during the Second World War. Spontaneous and dramatic rescue operations were conducted to save thousands of Jewish lives.

In a discussion with moderator, Lucy Shahar, the filmmaker, Suzannah Warlick, and the narrator, Chana Sharfstein, will give a behind-the-scenes account of the making of the film and Chana’s experience growing up in Sweden.

Suzannah Warlick is the owner of Bubble Soup Productions. She films, edits, and produces on a freelance basis. Her previous documentaries include The Queen’s CourtSupporting Actors, and Match & Marry. Suzannah’s love of documentaries and independent films led her to create and develop the CBS Film Series in Santa Clarita, CA, where she curates, promotes, and screens independent films for the community.

Chana Sharfstein was raised and educated in Stockholm, Sweden, and is a noted author, educator, lecturer, and tour guide. She is a retired member of the NYC Board of Education and is currently a docent at the Museum at Eldridge Street, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and at the Center for Jewish History. For 25 years she served as president of Scandinavia Trio Tours conducting kosher tours of Scandinavia.
