With 50% of the world’s population living in cities — and the heightened risks associated with climate change, green spaces, and flooding — studying urban habitats offers keys to design and planning that can help cities work better. Charles Vörösmarty, director of the Environmental Sciences Initiative at the GC’s Advanced Science Research Center, moderates a panel of CUNY experts in this growing field, including Deborah Balk, Peter Groffman, Peter Marcotullio, and Andrew Reinmann.
