Constellations Conference: Post-Colonialism, Critical Theory, and Democracy

This year’s two-day Constellations conference will consider the relation between various forms of critical theory and post-colonialism, including how Marxism assessed colonialism and how neo-Marxists analyzed post-colonialism and the issue of critical theory and philosophies of history. The developments and alternatives within post-colonial societies and polities will be discussed and debated with an eye to recent literature on political forms initially available and roads not taken. Moreover, the conference will revisit the question of democracy; law and constitutionalism in post-colonial contexts; as well as the issues of migration and citizenship triggered by decolonization and globalization.
