Delving Within: The New Science of the Unconscious

What exactly is the relationship between conscious awareness and the unconscious mind? How, for example, does the brain classify and sort its different functions into conscious or unconscious processes? What is the mechanism through which the unconscious shapes the thoughts and feelings that emerge into our conscious awareness? If the self as a whole is comprised of a combination of our unconscious and conscious minds, how can we effectively integrate these different aspects of ourselves? Can we systematically access or tap into our non-rational, intuitive realm to lead richer and more creative lives? How has the history of human conceptualizations about the unconscious influenced current theories? Neuroscientist Heather Berlin, psychologist Efrat Ginot and psychiatrist George Makari will shed light on the history of the mind and the latest insights into the fascinating and still emerging science of the unconscious.
