Dr. Robert R. Bigler Presents Before Yongle: Chinese and Tibeto-Chinese Buddhist Sculpture of the 13th and 14th Centuries OPENING
After 15 years of research, Dr. Robert R. Bigler is presenting an exhibition of 13th and 14th century Buddhist metal sculptures not seen before—this group of 32 religious works of art were created in China and the Himalayas during the Yuan and early Ming period (ca.1260-1400 A.D)….a somewhat obscure period of Buddhist art. The exhibition and accompanying book are designed to bring new insight into the art historical development of a long neglected group of religious works of art; this is the first time that this many such objects from the Yuan period will be exhibited together as a group. The exhibition will take place during Asia Week at Dickinson Roundell gallery at 19 E. 66th St. between Madison and Fifth avenues, March 13-22 daily from 10am to 6pm. www.biglerfinearts.com 41 79 336 14 59
