Ensemble Pi: Banned Books Concert

Ensemble Pi’s “Banned Books” is an evening-length concert that features six premieres written in response to recent U.S. bills which ban books or curtain discussion of disputed topics (critical race theory, LGBTQ+ issues, antisemitism, among others) in public schools and libraries. The diverse group of composers includes Richard Brooks, Louis Goldford, Laura Jobin-Acosta, Laura Kaminsky, Tamar Muskal, and Damian Norfleet; each composer was asked to create a piece influenced by a particular banned book that resonated with them.
