Everyday Ayurveda: Bhaswati Bhattacharya and Ricky Surie

For those wanting to learn more about Ayurveda while leading a modern life, Everyday Ayurveda is written for the thinking reader wanting to decipher how Ayurveda works. The book begins with real stories then unfolds the reasoning behind each prescription, such as waking early, oiling the body before bath, and cleaning the ears.

Written by a family physician who practices both modern medicine and Ayurveda in America, Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya MD MPH PhD has spent 15 years learning Ayurveda through the classical training of gurukula, learning how to integrate it with allopathic practice in New York and with patients on various parts of the globe. Dr. Bhattacharya recently completed a mid-career PhD in Ayurveda from Banaras Hindu University, where her thesis focused on the research of ayurvedic herbs and minerals that could modulate blood sugar. She also served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. She has an MPH from Harvard University, and completed her residencies at Columbia University and at Mount Sinai Medical Center. The research for Everyday Ayurveda was partly supported by a generous grant through the prestigious international Fulbright program.
