Exhibit Opening with Lighting Tour
Copper, Steel, Aluminum — these materials build the world around us, yet are discarded in the manufacturing process as “scraps”. Ten local artists saw the potential of these materials as they visited the Edison Price Lighting factory. There, they collected the surplus materials to transform them into art. Their creations are exhibited in the new show reVISION, at the Edison Price Lighting Gallery, which sits just above the factory. Scraps and beauty, manufacturing and artistry…the lines are revised at reVISION.
Join the lighting technique tours through reVISION, exhibited in the Edison Price Lighting Gallery.
ReVISION features New York City-based artists who have worked with materials collected from Edison Price Lighting’s on-site factory. The artists explored the factory to meet the craftspeople who first cut, bent, spun, burnished, and painted these raw metals to create architectural lighting fixtures. Each artist left the factory with surplus materials to create art of their own.
The opening reception for reVISION begins with a 5:30pm tour through the gallery with the lighting designer. The tour will illustrate common art lighting needs and techniques. The tour awards 1 AIA credit and is accessible to all levels of lighting knowledge.
After the tour, enjoy wine and snacks during the reception.
